Asia, Seattle could be next stops for direct flights out of Columbus

With Columbus quickly becoming more than just a “flyover city,” Port Columbus airport is looking to accommodate some of travellers’ most popular outbound destinations that don’t already have direct flights.

With increased travel from central Ohio to China, India and Japan, new direct flights are starting to look more and more likely.

In fact, according to David Whitaker, vice president of business development for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, direct service to Asia is “inevitable.” He says it’s just a matter of when.

And in the nearer future, Alaska Air is looking to enter the Columbus market with nonstop service to Seattle, the most popular destination for Columbus travellers that doesn’t already have a direct flight.
