Carbon Monoxide Leak at Local Nursing Home Sends 10 to Hospital

Around a 140 people were evacuated from Bryden Place nursing facility when officials were alerted of a possible gas leak, according to NBC4i.

Around 5 PM Tuesday, Columbus Fire Chief Steve Martin reported carbon monoxide (CO) detectors detected “extremely high” levels of CO.

Emergency crews turned off the gas and electric of the building before evacuating residents, and reported that 10 people had to be sent to the hospital with a mild case of CO poisoning.

Symptoms of CO poisoning include headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, and nausea.

Although residents were allowed back into the building around 11 PM, officials did not discover the cause of the leak.
