Unfortunately, Columbus’ best-known glue manufacturer will not be sticking in Columbus.
Following its sale to Newell Rubbermaid, based in Georgia, the headquarters for Elmer’s Products is leaving Columbus, taking 116 Columbus jobs with it by the end of the year.
About 76 employees will have the opportunity to transfer, some right away, some by the end of the year, while 40 employees will lose their jobs.
In a letter sent to state officials, the new owners will have Elmer’s “integrated into Newell Rubbermaid’s functional hubs” in Atlanta, Georgia, Huntersville, North Carolina, and Downers Grove, Illinois.
About 300 employees worked at Elmer’s at the time of the sale.
