Inmates Build Gifts for Foster Children
Inmates all over Ohio temporarily became Santa’s elves as they built 1,700 new bicycles for Ohio foster children on Christmas, according to NBC4i.
Caseworkers across the state will be delivering the bikes along with donated holiday gifts for the children.
The bikes were dressed with hand made bows and Christmas cards made by female inmates from Ohio Reformatory for Women.
Phillip Zwiller, one of the inmates who built the bikes in Pickaway County told NBC4i, “I love it, I get to come out here and do something positive and give to the kids that don’t have it as good as I did. I had a pretty rough childhood, but not as bad as some of these kids.”
The gifts were possible due to over $100,000 in donations, and will be given out to children in Franklin County all week.
