When a father in North Columbus suspected an intruder was breaking into his home early in the morning, he shot at first sight–only to realize he had made a terrible mistake.
It turns out the intruder was actually his teenage son, who forgot something at the house after leaving for school.
The father bought the gun only a few weeks prior after being robbed.
Police say they’ve responded to the street the family lives on, Skywae Drive, about 25 times this year alone.
The teen was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and is expected to be OK.
