More than 25,000 Concealed-Carry Permits Issued in Ohio in 2016

The Columbus Dispatch reports that at least 1 in 16 adults in the state has a concealed-carry permit, and more than 25,400 new conceal-carry permits were issued this past third quarter.

The state now has 574,000 active permits and recognizes 12.3 million permits from other states.

The Buckeye Firearms Association suggests the trend might be due to the high-profile terrorist attacks nationally and at home. Though the recent attack at OSU was not confirmed as a terrorist attack, it may have been inspired by terrorism.

Conceal-carry permits may be edible for new legislation awaiting Gov. John Kasich’s approval, specifically Senate Bill 199 which would allow permit holders to bring guns on college campuses, day-care centers and some unsecured government properties.
