Watch adorable newborn Columbus Zoo tigers snuggle with mom
Good news for the Columbus Zoo: one of its tigers is a new mom!
Irisa, an Amur tiger, gave birth to three cubs late last night, and footage from a remote camera indicates they appear to be healthy.
In a press release the Columbus Zoo said that tiger cubs are fragile, but the precarious situation is eased by the fact that Irisa is being an attentive mother to her thriving cubs.
Amur tigers, historically referred to as Siberian tigers, are critically endangered, with fewer than 400 believed to be remaining in the forests of the Russian Far East.
In fact, the birth of the new cubs is such a special occurrence in the world of animal conservation that it was even featured in worldwide news source the Huffington Post!
