In the wake of the horrific terror attack in Orlando, Columbus Police are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of the estimated 400,000 people who will be attending this year’s Pride Fest.
The festival is one of the nation’s largest, and organizer Stonewall Columbus is planning on spending about $30,000 just on special duty police officers and private security.
While event organizers and police said there is no information to lead them to believe safety concerns will arise at Pride, they also encouraged community members to report any suspicious activity.
Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs said there will also be additional patrols in the Short North leading up to the event.
