Police on the lookout for ‘Dental hygiene hoodlum’
Just as plaque and coffee stains are vanishing from his teeth, Crest White Strips are vanishing from stores all across central Ohio.
Sean Patrick Burk has become known to the City Attorney’s Office as the “Dental hygiene hoodlum,” pilfering bags full of teeth whitening kits worth up at $610 at a time.
Notably, he only steals Crest White Strips.
“Serial thieves generally target certain items but it is unusual for us to see such brand loyalty where an offender only steals large quantities of a single product, over and over again,” Columbus City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer, Jr. said.
Burk’s hijinks have earned him six theft charges, two guilty pleas, and two arrest warrants.
Though it’s amusing to think Burk is addicted to having a beautiful smile, First Assistant City Prosecutor Bill R. Hedrick thinks another addiction might be fuelling the thefts.
“We believe it’s more likely he’s not using the white strips personally, but selling them on the black market to feed a drug habit.”
Who knew there was a black market for white strips?
Anyone with information about Sean Patrick Burk is asked to contact First Assistant City Prosecutor Bill R. Hedrick at 614-645-8874.
