Former ‘Dispatch’ owner John Wolfe dies
One of the former owners of the Columbus Dispatch, John Wolfe, has died at age 72.
Wolfe died at a Columbus hospital following a two-year battle with cancer.
Though Wolfe sold the Dispatch to a New York investment group, he still owned its affiliated television and radio stations, including 10tv.
He was known as a man who disliked the spotlight, but used his behind-the-scenes influence to positively shape his hometown of Columbus in many ways, including bringing professional hockey and soccer to the capital city.
Ohio Governor John Kasich said Wolfe’s devotion to his community was “unmatched.”
Wolfe is survived by his wife, three daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren.
John Wolfe’s passing is a huge personal loss to me, just as it is an irreplaceable loss to Columbus and Central OH. pic.twitter.com/OU1E4KNJBJ
