Super Tuesday roundup: Trump, Clinton win big

614now Staff

Super Tuesday is the biggest day for presidential primaries, with eleven states holding elections, and yesterday’s contest yielded big news for the candidates out front.

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump won big, with Hillary winning mostly southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia, and Trump winning a wide range of states including Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.

Clinton also won Massachusetts by a single percentage point.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders won his home state, in addition to Colorado, Minnesota and Oklahoma.

On the Republican side, Texas Senator Ted Cruz came in second, winning Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio came in third, winning Minnesota.

Ohio Governor John Kasich didn’t win any states, but had respectable second-place finishes in Massachusetts and Vermont, netting him some delegates.

As of now, Clinton and Trump both hold dominant leads, but it’s still anyone’s game, with over half the delegates required to win still up for grabs.
