Columbus dad relives childhood wonder through photos

Sometimes it’s tough to wrap your mind around how kids behave–or how unexpectedly insightful they can be.

One Columbus dad is on a mission to remind parents that kids are constantly exploring the world they live in through a photo project called “Small Steps Are Giant Leaps,” with help from his spacesuit-clad son.

Aaron Sheldon found inspiration for the project when his four-year-old son, Harry, wouldn’t get off a COTA bus. Though he was initially frustrated, he realized that to Harry, the bus ride wasn’t just a daily chore, it was an adventure.

Sheldon writes on his website that he hopes the project “will remind other moms or dads out there who may be losing their patience in line at the grocery store or coffee shop that our kids aren’t just acting like fools – they are exploring new frontiers.”

Harry Sheldon had the idea to be an astronaut, and to his father, the idea was golden.

When you see some of these photos, you might remember that childhood sense of wonder that came from going to the zoo to see exotic creatures, to the library to be dwarfed by stacks of books, or the simple pleasure of watching the world go by through a bus window.

Not a terrible day on Instagram…
