In 2017 — Big Lots Will Be More “Whimsical”
Big Lots President and CEO, David Campisi, has put forth the notion that there is an opportunity for the Columbus-based retailer to create “more of a whimsical, fun shopping experience,” he said to The Dispatch.
Big Lots, as many of you know, deal primarily in discounts, closeouts and things that look like they might have been lost in the trade route to different countries. They serve a vital function of providing cheap access to products that generally would cost more at a more typical grocery store. So while super important to various segments of community, many would not think of Big Lots needing “whimsy.”
“You have to do something different,” Campisi said. “We think there’s an opportunity to create more of a whimsical, fun shopping experience.”
They’ll be working with Westerville-based Alloy and Columbus-based Big Red Rooster to come up with a new, magical look.
I’m envisioning something with the wonderment of something out of Harry Potter mixed the child-like glee from a Disney World roller coaster ride.
What do you think? How can Big Lots be full of whimsy and magic?
