National Geographic: All the cool kids love CBUS
Need your daily dose of Columbus love? Today it comes from none other than National Geographic.
In an article titled, “Why All The Cool Kids Love Columbus, Ohio” the magazine compares the capital city to other hip U.S. destinations, including Brooklyn, Portland and Austin, noting that Brooklyn is too expensive, Portland is overexposed and Austin isn’t weird enough anymore.
“So which up-and-coming American city can now lay claim to the millennial mantle?” author Andrew Nelson asks.
You guessed it: Columbus.
Nelson proceeds to eulogize C-BUS to the extreme, saying it’s affordable for living or exploration on a long weekend, it has a fashion scene behind only New York and Los Angeles, and he name-drops legendary Columbus native James Thurber to extol the city’s grasp on graphic design.
And that’s only the beginning. He goes on to list five areas in which Columbus excels, most of which have to do with the city’s creative aspects, from artisanal goods, to craft beer, to coffee.
Call us crazy, but it seems to us that this is only the start of Columbus’ rise to the national spotlight.
