National Night Out Continues to Inspire Communities

National Night Out Continues to Inspire Communities

Every year, on the first tuesday of August dozens of neighborhoods and hundreds of Columbus Police and Firefighters participate in the community event, National Night Out.

Last night was no different for Columbus and many cities across the country. Communities enjoy food, games and quality time with the police that patrol their neighborhoods.

Many of these National Night Out events are organized by local members of the community to bring these small groups of people together in a positive atmosphere.

In Columbus, Franklinton had one of the biggest showings last night as well with other community leaders pushing for more turn out next year. Residents walked around with hot dogs, watermelon slices, and stood in raffle lines. Children were fitted with new bicycle helmets and red balloons while visiting local booths including Franklinton CycleWorks, Franklinton community Gardens, and other community partners.

Franklinton Local and Artist in Residence for the Wexner Center’s Pages Program, Joy Sullivan said, “Franklinton night out is an event that celebrates the heart of our neighborhood. It’s a time to build relationships with community investors, stakeholders, and those who are dedicated to building a stronger Franklinton.”

Next year’s National Night Out will happen on the first Tuesday of August. Mark it down, because your community wants you there.
