Oh…My…God — Polar Bear Twins Born at Columbus Zoo

Just before the election, Anana, aunt to Nora the baby polar bear, gave birth to twins.

“Polar bear cubs are only about a pound at birth – imagine a baby about the size of a stick of butter – and we are cautiously optimistic about their survival,” said Tom Stalf, President and CEO of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. “Our hope is Anana will raise her cubs but our team, who now have experience with the difficult process of rearing a tiny cub, are prepared to step in if necessary.”

Featured above, Nora,  just after she was born.

Anana’s twin sister, Aurora also gave birth to two litters, the most recent one last year, but only cub Nora survived who was then transferred to another zoo.

If Anana stays in her den to care for her cubs, they will remain in the private denning area off public view until spring.

In the video above, you can see a tiny baby bear next to her mother at around 30 seconds. Side note, baby polar bears being born sound exactly like humans being born.
