Winter 2016: It’s Gonna be Wet and Shitty

Does everyone remember how awesome last winter was? Barely any snow — it was pretty mild, it wasn’t too cold — just a nice winter.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has published their yearly seasonal forecast for winter and it’s looking like a bummer. Thanks, La Nina.

“La Nina winters tend to favor above average snowfall around the Great Lakes and in the northern Rockies and below average snowfall in the mid-Atlantic,” they wrote in their study.

We are the “Great Lakes” area and here’s what we’re looking at for precipitation:

2016 winter outlook - precipitation

“La Nina favors drier, warmer winters in the southern U.S and wetter, cooler conditions in the northern U.S.”

Get your coats and rain boots ready, it’s going to be a wet one. Also salt, time to stock up on salt. Lots of salt.
