Buh-bye Bonchon

Buh-bye Bonchon

And down goes the second Columbus location of Bonchon. That’s a wrap on the South Korean-style fried chicken chain’s stint in Columbus, folks.

According to Columbus Business First, the first store at 3586 West Dublin Granville Rd. closed earlier this year. Bonchon broke the news of the Clintonville location (next to Lineage Brewing) closing to Facebook on Tuesday with a graphic of one lone, saucey drumstick.

What’s the deal Columbus? Is there only room for two  major players in fried chicken (iSpy Canes and HCT)? Or are central Ohio palates modest enough to be satisfied with the greasy, sometimes spongy skin of KFC drums? Is the “Asian fusion” concept too saturated?
