Tim Horton (no, not that Tim Horton) a Franklin County Appeals Court Judge has admitted to charges that he used campaign funds illegally while running unopposed for the bench in 2014.
He pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts — each of which are punishable by up to six-months in jail and a $1,000 fine. According to The Dispatch, he’ll likely get probation as a “first-time, nonviolent” offender.
So what did Horton’s spending spree look like? A small smorgasbord of restaurants celebrating his unchallenged victory for the bench.
- $1,040 at Hyde Park for a campaign event after his opponent withdrew from the race.
- $979 at Due Amici — This one is especially kind of mind blowing considering food there, while pricey isn’t knock your socks off pricey. Check their dinner menu, it tops out around $34. Even more surprising is that this was a fundraiser only attracting three total people (including Horton.)
- Finally, $173 on cigars for campaign supporters. Kind of silly, and hell, he even admitted it was an “excessive and unreasonable amount” for a campaign he won without challenge.
