Columbus = safe haven for immigrants

Our city is officially a safe haven for immigrants. City Council put Mayor Ginther’s Executive Order on immigration into law, though won’t go as far as to call Columbus a sanctuary city.
With sanctuary cities, federal laws regarding immigration aren’t necessarily abided by which jeopardized federal funding. While many of the policies Columbus implemented into law mirror those of sanctuary cities, the city will not technically be called that.
What this law says to refugees is “You are welcome and appreciated here.”
