Beaten Somali woman photos lead to hate crime rumors on social media, CAIR involved
A whirlwind of accusations have been swirling around social media lately after a post went up of a beaten Somali woman. The Council on American-Islamic Relations is requesting the police to investigate this case to see whether or not it was a hate crime.
Though authorities say they aren’t investigating this as a hate crime because there isn’t enough evidence.
Everything went down around 2800 Pinellas Court on Saturday, June 3.
A woman called police, accusing a neighbor of abducting her child. There were other calls made to police from other parties involved, one of which when the dispatcher could hear sounds indicating a physical altercation.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman laying face down in the doorway of 2800 Pinellas Court. Her husband said she had been attacked with a taser or something similar.
Also at the scene, officers found another woman sitting on the steps of 2806 Pinellas bleeding from her mouth. She said she was assaulted by a man. No arrests were made due to lack of physical evidence and conflicting stories from all parties involved.
Two women were transported to the hospital for injuries related to the hullabaloo. Everyone involved has been directed to the City of Columbus Prosecutors Officers because a probable cause for an arrest has not been established.
