63-year-old Douglas Krumlauf of Mt. Vernon has been arrested in a Gahanna murder case more that 30 years old. The victim, Sharla Spangler, was last seen leaving the Gold Fox Lounge in 1985. Her body was recovered near Hamilton Road and State Route 161, but due to lack of evidence and suspects, the case went cold for over three decades. She was 24 at the time.
Krumlauf’s fingerprints were entered into a database in 2015, and eventually Police were able to connect his fingerprints to evidence from the Spangler murder. Krumlauf was indicted on one count of Murder and one count of Aggravated Murder, both of which involved firearms.
