Toddler’s beating called “One of the worst to come across desk”
On November 9, a two-year-old boy was beaten within minutes of his life by his mother’s boyfriend.
“It’s one of the worst cases that’s come across my desk with a child beaten this severely,” said Sgt. John Hurst, CPD’s Special Victim’s Bureau.
The toddler was in the care of his mother, Charissa L. Thivener, 19, and her boyfriend, Jevonte L. Tucker, 23 when Thivener became incoherent on illegal drugs. That is when Tucker unleashed the beating, according to police reports.
Luckily, the toddler’s grandmother came home to find him unconscious on the couch and called 911. Sgt. Hurst said that if the grandmother hadn’t returned home when she did, the boy would’ve died.
Tucker was arrested & charged with felonious assault. Thivener was arrested and charged with endangering children.
