Dublin roundabout made bad problem worse
Roundabouts are designed to keep traffic flowing quickly and safely but the one at Route 161 and Riverside in Dublin does quite the opposite.
Before the roundabout in 2014, there were about 20 accidents, reports WOSU. It was a busy intersection and there were enough problems to warrant a $23 million roundabout.
The problem only worsened.
In the past year, there were 156 accidents, reports WOSU. So now, Dublin is forced to dump another $260,000 to improve a busy entry point to reduce the number of crashes. Construction on this will begin in October at the earliest.
Similar to roundabouts themselves, the details are confusing as hell. Read more about them at WOSU.
This week at the roundabout, you will experience overnight lane restrictions to “accommodate developer needs” unrelated to the forthcoming improvements according to the city. Click here for more on that front.
