Dublin’s Weird-Looking Library Getting Rethought
The Dublin branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library was getting an upgrade from top to bottom with a new design and parking garage but now it looks like their original design may be scrapped.
Residents of the area are none too happy about their upcoming Library which looks like it was plucked from the set of Blade Runner. There was even a petition, signed by over 300 people.
The new 3-level branch would have been double the size of the current one at 41,000 square feet, with an adjacent 4-level parking garage that will offer parking for the city of Dublin and 200 reserved spots for branch customers.
“We anticipate returning to Dublin City Council in the near future with our Basic Plan submittal,”CML Executive Director Patrick Losinski said in the statement. “CML continues to be committed to bringing a new 21st century library to the deserving residents of Dublin.”
Columbus Metropolitan Library has said it expects the Dublin branch to open in 2018 or 2019 with a budget of $18.47 million.
