Get back to work, Grandview, Lazy Daze Fest canceled
What would’ve been the 24th annual Lazy Daze of Summer festival in Grandview has been canceled. That’s right, Grandview’s long-running arts celebration won’t be making a 2017 return. Although it could be resurrect in 2018.
For over two decades, G-view has put on an outdoor party to celebrate local creative spirits. They had handcrafted vendors, all-day entertainment, free children’s art activities, food, silent auctions, and much, much more.
Historically, it would take place on or around the July 23rd weekend. In it’s early years, Lazy Daze was curated by the Grandview Heights Library. Then in 2005, an arts council–The Marble Cliff Arts Council– was established to take over the planning though the city and the library still play integral roles.
Over the past two years, organizers saw diminishing sponsors, volunteers, and attendance rates at the festival.
The Grandview library will continue to host monthly art exhibits and is working to plan more art trips for the community.
Keep the faith that Grandview will be able to put on another Lazy Daze arts festival next summer!
