Keep the change: COTA bus fare system gets update

COTA passengers already have a Wi-Fi connection when they step foot on a bus but by the end of this year, their boarding process will get even better.

The transit company will be installing “smart fare” boxes onto all 430 busses to make paying fare faster and easier, reports The Dispatch. Passengers will be able to use an app on their smartphones to connect their credit card and scan a code upon boarding so that fumbling for change, flattening out dollar bills, and trips to the COTA offices for bus passes can be left in 2017. However, for old school riders, the boxes will still accept coins, bills, and annual passes. Unwrinkling

A more streamlined public transportation system is becoming increasingly important for those individuals relying on busses to get to work.
