Lowe’s Laying Off 2,400 Employees
The North Carolina-based one-stop shop for home improvement, Lowe’s says it will be laying off 2,400 full-time workers.
A Fortune 500 company, Lowe’s has stores across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
A statement from the company said that most of the cuts will be full-time, store level cuts but will be supplying severance packages as well as outplacement resources to help ex-workers stay on their feet.
Lowe’s CEO Robert Niblock told employees in an email that the changes “will better align store staffing with customer demand, shift resources from back-of-the-store activities to customer-facing ones, and enhance our efficiency and productivity.”
Also among the shakeups at Lowe’s is that Bob Hull, their CFO, is retiring with a replacement coming on March 3rd.
