More Columbus houses being made into homes this year

Less homes around the city are sitting lonely and empty these days.

*Happy tears*

At the end of last month, there were 6,597 vacant homes in Columbus compared to 6,877 last year. That’s 280 more home hosting parties, get togethers, Netflix binging, and other memories.

The Dispatch reports the empty house rate in Columbus is at 1.1 percent which is well below the national average of 1.58 percent and the rates of other Ohio cities: Canton, 2.3 percent; Akron, 2.4 percent; Toledo, 3.2 percent.

Poor Flint, Michigan homes are suffering the most out of the 149 metro areas of 100,000 homes are more with a vacancy rate of 6.9 percent, reports The Dispatch.
