In an effort to make the experience of renewing your license, tags and registration even more aggravating — Ohio is proposing an increase to the costs to help pay for new transportation projects.
A proposed change by the Ohio House of Representatives Finance Committee would give the county commissioners the ability to levy a new $5 fee for Ohio license plates bringing the cost to $39.50 car plates and $33.50 for motorcycle plates.
Service fees paid to deputy registrars would also rise from $3.50 to $5.25 under the proposed changes to Gov. John Kasich’s two-year, $7.8 billion transportation budget.
