A southwest Columbus fire has left one dead, and his mother injured.
According to the battalion chief, the fire began when a woman was folding hot laundry into a plastic bag. The heat from the recently dried clothes caused the bag to catch fire.
They both tried to battle the flames but left the house. Despite already being safe, the man for as of now an unspecified reason re-entered the house into an upstairs bedroom where he allegedly became trapped. In an effort to escape, he lept out of the window where he hit his head on the driveway sustaining an injury that would later kill him.
The man’s mother was treated at the scene according to 10TV.
