Problems at the Palace: Could downtown theatre be in danger?
The people in charge of Palace Theatre say it could be in grave danger of closing if it doesn’t receive a huge renovation.
Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA), is making a bid for a $19 million renovation in wake of changes being made to their heating, ventilating, and air conditioning agreement with their neighbor, LeVeque Tower.
Columbus Business First reports that CAPA truly fears the theatre will close if the Ohio Historic Tax Credits are not OK’ed.
If approved, CAPA would have one one chance to use up the tax credits so the work would be completed in only six months.
They’d tackle the plater ceiling, the 45-year-old theatre seats, and concession stand and restroom repairs.
