Free Ridesharing Service Coming to Columbus

[su_slider source=”media: 20160,20161,20162,20163,20164″ width=”960″ height=”600″]

Hopper Carts, an eco-friendly, free to ride, on-demand ridesharing service, is coming to Columbus in the Spring of 2017.  Hopper Carts will connect Columbus by using a fleet of electric vehicles that riders call through an interactive mobile app.  By working with the city of Columbus and other private partners, Hopper Carts is working towards a greener, more mobile Columbus.

Hopper Carts will operate primarily in the Short North and downtown Columbus with exceptions made for special events. A 6-8 week testing program will begin on April 1st with a plan to launch the mobile application in late Spring.

Working with local businesses, hotels and the city to create what Hopper Carts describes as a “fun and exciting rider experience.”  Proprietary technology will allow users to call and track a Hopper while also connecting them to local hot spots.  Though the app users will be able to see discounts to local restaurants, browse local music options and check out local festivals.

The fleet will be comprised of Polaris Gem E6 fully electric vehicles. They are fully enclosed with 6 forward facing seats, 3 point seatbelts, and heaters. The service will be paid for by partnerships with local and national companies, sponsoring the carts.

Says, Co-Founder Chris Potts, “We want to change the way people experience Columbus by making micro-transportation more convenient for residents and visitors.  We will connect people from where they park to their destination or in between neighborhoods so going from 16 bit to Oddfellows has never been easier.“

Hopper will change the way people move by offering a free to ride, green, micro-transit solution that helps alleviate parking concerns, connects separated neighborhoods and improves the visitor experience.

“We hope to move over a quarter of million people within our first year. Not only does that make experiencing everything Columbus has to offer easier, but it also keeps over 30,000 gallons of gasoline off of the road,” says, Co-Founder Tomos Mughan.
