Twitter doubles character count, yay or nay?

If you scroll through Twitter and constantly think, “Man, what I would give to read 140 more characters of Chrissy Teigen’s tweets,” then it’s your lucky day.

In an unexpected move yesterday, Twitter started rolling out 280 character tweets. That’s doubled from the former 140 character limit. It’s only available to select users so the company can monitor its popularity. However, The Verge found a way to bypass selection and “hack” the feature.

Here’s how to get double the character count:

Download Tampermonkey for your browser of choice (Chrome webstore link)
Visit this this Github repository, click the “raw” button, then tell tampermonkey to “install” the script (or copy and paste the code into a new script in Tampermonkey)
Now visit twitter.com, make sure the script in running in Tampermonkey, then tweet whatever your heart desires
