CPD Accidently Delete 100,000 Cruiser Videos

The CPD are reporting to media that approximately 100,000 cruiser video files were accidentally or “inadvertently” deleted.

In a press release sent today, CPD said the Columbus Police Technical Services Bureau became aware of a potential mass deletion of cruiser video footage dating back to 2015.

The Columbus Division of Police Technical Services Bureau says they are working closely with the city’s Department of Technology on solutions and a possible recovery of the video files. The impact of the deletion is unknown at this time, according to CPD.

There will be a media brief at 2:30pm by Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs and Director Sam Orth, City of Columbus Department of Technology.
