Amazon drones will be your annoying reminder of growing honey-do-list
It’s won’t be just your nosey neighbor, Cheryl, reminding you of the siding falling off of your house. Once authorized by you, Amazon drones will be capable of collecting video and audio from their deliveries to your home. The purpose is for the drones to detect anomalies and turn them into person alerts. The appearance of the new high-tech flying delivery machines may be a bit different than the ones being used now.
We wish we could tell you Amazon will be complimenting your rose beds but instead, you’ll be getting notifications like,
“Welcome User A! On a recent delivery we noticed that your roof might need some repair,” Columbus Business First reported courtesy of an Amazon patent filing. “Find below recommended local roof repair services that we recommend: 1) All that Roof Repair 2) Emerald City Roof Repair.”
If you’ve been putting off repairs for years, these alerts may be nagging. If you have no idea what the top of your house looks like, these may be necessary. But for everyone, the drones could help improve safety.
With the audio recording capability, Amazon could notify you of danger happening right near your home–say, a gun shot or a cry for help.
For all of you reading this thinking, Great, another way for Big Brother to keep tabs on me.., all faces and addresses captured on video will be blurred out before being handed to a third party.
