Kroger’s in Columbus smacking down prices
Not all heroes wear capes– take Kroger’s Columbus division for example. They’re knifing through prices left and right to keep up with competition in the retail food industry.
Check this out:
- Kroger-branded 16 oz. peanut butter will drop from $1.99 to $1.49
- Loaves of Private Selection bread will drop from $2.69 to $1.88
- 8-roll packs of Home Sense paper towels will decreasing from $12.19 to $7.99
There has never been a better time to stock up on PB sandwich fixings.
Two culprits we have to thank for these price reductions are German friends Aldi and Lidl. Aldi, known for their deeply discounted food items, already has 1,600 U.S. locations and is expected to increase that number to 2,000 by 2018.
On the other hand, Lidl discount supermarket isn’t expected to hit American soil until the middle of June and locations are contained to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Kroger’s is keeping their eye on Lidl, though, because the chain is expected to blow up.
