Uber takes brown-nosing steps to win back public + employee support

The uber-popular ride hailing service, Uber, will soon give customers the option to tip their chauffeur. Sounds a bit like another ride sharing service we’ve heard of.. coughcoughLyftcoughcough. Uber promises not to take even a sliver of a percentage from the drivers’ tips.

This feature will be available nationwide by the end of August.

Uber is also switching up their tactics by charging riders by the minute if they keep the driver waiting for more than two minutes.

“Jess! Come. On. Put your tongue back in your mouth and get his number already. Our ride is here and I’m being charged by the minute so let’s. GO.”

Also, instead of having to cancel their ride five minutes in advance to avoid a $5 fee, customers can end their ride only two minutes prior to the arrival time without being slapped with a cancelation price.

These two changes will roll out in August.

All of this revamping is part of Uber’s “180 Days of Change” campaign.

“We’re making a commitment to you. For the next 180 days (and beyond) we’ll be making meaningful changes to your driving experience,” Uber said on their website. “Some changes will be big, some will be small — all will be the changes you’ve asked for.”

Uber is making an attempt to pick up the ball they dropped–hard–this year. The company is tangled up in multiple sexual harassment, bullying, sexism and other negative allegations and investigations. Uber’s environment has been referred to as a “bro culture.” The CEO got the hell out of there and resigned.

Word of their bad behavior cost them $2.8 billion last year alone.

Will these steps to butter up the public make up for lost ground? We shall see later this summer.
