2×2 Hip-Hop Fest finds new stomping grounds

Since the closing of Rice Paddy Motorcycles, Columbus’ 2×2 Hip-Hop Festival found itself without a home. After months of searching, the fest organizers have found some new stomping grounds.

The old Hillcrest Lanes bowling alley on 3440 W. Broad St. will be transformed into an epicenter for hip-hop, break dancing battles, art, and culture this summer. Josh Miller, founder of 2×2 is excited to bring these elements to the west side of the city, a place he holds near and dear to his heart.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to bring something to the west side of the city,” said Miller in a release. “I found my love for hip-hop in a house just a few blocks away from Hillcrest. I rapped for the first time there, so I’m pumped that we can throw a hip-hop festival across the street from where it all started, for me.”

2×2 Hip-Hop Festival will be going down July 28 with smaller events leading up to the date.
