Clippers gWINnett in 10
In the International League West, the Columbus Clippers are four games ahead of the bottom-dwelling Louisville Bats, and two and a half games behind the second place Indianapolis Indians. Collecting a few wins this week against a lesser opponent at home could get the Clippers to .500 on the season.
Last night at Huntington Park, following a delay from a tornado warning and heavy rain, Columbus was leading Gwinnett 4-1 after seven innings. But in the eighth inning, the Stripers rallied for three runs to tie the game at 4-4. Then, in the tenth inning, the Clippers got the one run they needed for a 5-4 victory.
The Columbus Clippers (17-19) play the Gwinnett Stripers (14-22) today at Huntington Park at 6:35 p.m. for their second game in a 3-game series. The first pitch for the third game will be tomorrow at 11:05 a.m.

In 2018, Buckeye Fans Will Expect the Dwayne Haskins of 2017
Following Joe Burrow’s announcement that he would be transferring, Dwayne Haskins became the clear choice for one of the most coveted jobs in the entire state: Ohio State’s starting quarterback.
Ohio State’s head football coach Urban Meyer disclosed this news two hours away from campus in Canton, Ohio at a recent Pro Football Hall of Fame luncheon. Moreover, he spoke about the impressive performance by Dwayne Haskins against that team up north last season.
That high-pressure game experience—something Joe Burrow did not have an opportunity to take advantage of—seems like it may have been the deciding “x-factor” for Urban Meyer and his quarterbacks coach Ryan Day.
When life confronts us with a difficult question, we tend to favor what we know. And Mr. Meyer and Co. knew what Mr. Haskins did to the Wolverines in 2017 when given the opportunity.
FYI – The 6’3” 218-pound quarterback was an effective, stabilizing figure under center who was 6/7 for 94 yards and earned 24 yards on three carries in Ohio State’s 31-20 road win against that team up north last November.
The first real test for Dwayne Haskins will be this fall with the season opener against one of those other OSU schools—the Oregon State Beavers—in the Horseshoe on September 1, 2018.
After weeks of struggling with this decision, I have decided to leave Ohio State and explore other options. My teammates and coaches all know the love I feel for them. I will decide where I will play next year in the coming weeks.
