Slow burning plan for Italian Village apartment complex may finally take off

After about five years on the back burner, a proposal for a new apartment complex in German Village is finally being brought to the forefront.

Schiff Capital Group and Wood Cos. hope to appear before the Italian Village Commission to present their plan for an apartment building adjacent to Italian Village Park near High Street.

In the first draft of the proposal, the development, called Parkside on Pearl, was a mere 42 units. Today, the plan calls for 65 living units, offices, a rooftop patio, and a fitness center.

The company’s website assures plenty of parking for the development’s residents and workers.

The building would be seven stories and wield a $20 million price tag.

Schiff Capital Group and Wood Cos. see Parkside on Pearl as moderately priced “workforce housing,” reports The Dispatch. Expected rental price was not provided.
