Forbes sings Columbus’ praises; Indie cocktail scene, restaurants, distilleries

Any of us already living in Columbus have no issue bragging about our cocktail scene…but we’re biased. Forbes on the other hand is not…and they agree.

“Local cooks and mixologists are raising the bar on what is delicious- and what has not been discovered yet by the rest of the country.”

In a recent article by the business magazine, Columbus’ was singled out for having high class distilleries—namely Middle West Spirits, Watershed, and 451 Spirits—and “gleaming” new restaurants, distilleries, micro-breweries.

Forbes also nods at Columbus’ other points of interest including our “world-class” museums, international airport, and diversity, and business environment.

“This city is not like Chicago, nor is it like Seattle- although comparisons are made to Austin, Texas with emotional diversity and a vast number of high tech companies moving to the area every day.”

It’s funny—the biggest shock of all to national publications like Forbes and NYT is not our impressive cocktail scene or the fact we’re a finalist for Amazon’s HQ2, but rather the bigger picture: Columbus isn’t a Podunk fly-over city.

It took them long enough but better late than never.
