Are officials in charge of medical marijuana high? Problems arise

Issues with Ohio medical marijuana legislation are piling up and the officials in charge of the program—Gov. John Kasich and Commerce Director Jacqueline Williams—are dragging their feet to resolve them.

Will medical weed arrive in the state by the deadline of September 8?

Some think not.

One of the aforementioned issues is the fact a consultant in the screening process to become a large grower had been convicted of drug crimes. Rather than admitting mistake, Williams said her department doesn’t require background checks for vendors, reports The Dispatch. In addition, five companies that received provisional licenses didn’t meet stipulations including adequate distances from schools.

A group of grower bidders who were not given licenses are suing because of these unfair practices.

The Commerce Department did actually come out and admit it mishandled the application process and rejected applicants that could have been selected but for many, this confession is too late.
