It’s a plane, no it’s a Bird: Electric scooters for rent near you

It’s a bird, it’s a plane…. no wait, it actually is a Bird.

Electric scooters are now available for rent in Short North, downtown, Arena District, and Bexley.

The scooter-sharing service costs $1 to start a ride a 15 cents per minute after that.

They can be located with a GPS-based app.

You can get these babies up to a zippy 15 mph and they last about 15 miles on a single charge,  reports Columbus Business First.

But, if you’re imagining yourself championing the night on a two-wheeled go-getter, you’ve got it twisted.

Once the sun goes down, the Birds are picked up from their “nests” and stored overnight.

Riders must be at least 18 years old and must sign a safety agreement before the first use.

Bird hopes Columbus accepts the new service more widely than in San Francisco, Austin, Nashville, Charlotte, Denver, Miami, and Indianapolis which are all markets where the company failed.
