One of Columbus’ largest employers slated for massive layoff
One of central Ohio’s largest employers will be closing, leaving hundreds of Columbus residents jobless.
It appears Express Scripts will be closing its west side pharmacy at 255 Phillipi Road and subsequently laying off over 450 employees.
The St. Louis based company specializes in pharmacy home delivery, pharmacy claims processing, and medical and drug data analysis.
The Express Scripts on Phillipi Road worked with handling mail order pharmaceutical distribution, as well as with a number of technicians and pharmacists.
Layoffs will begin on June 10 and will affect technicians and pharmacists.
Express Scripts has recently been bought out (in cash and stock) by Cigna Corp., an international health service provider. The transaction is valued at $67 billion.
