Pasta with a side of mouse droppings at German Village Giant Eagle
Some mice are responsible for the temporary closure of the German Village Giant Eagle Wednesday.
The closure of the grocery store, located at 280 E Whittier St, stemmed from a customer who noticed mice droppings on the shelves of the pasta isle, according to This Week News. There were also chew marks in bread bags and dog food bags in the stock room.
The store was only closed for a few hours while they irradiated the issue.
“We immediately took the requisite steps to meet not only the high standards we set for ourselves, but those of the city of Columbus and most importantly those of our customers,” said Dan Donovan, Giant Eagle spokesman, in a statement per This Week News. “The store reopened within hours of the notice and we are committed to reviewing, and where necessary improving, our processes and policies.”
This incident comes shortly after the Kroger on Parsons Avenue was temporarily closed due to several health code violations including the presence of rats.
