Columbus, we’d like to introduce you to your new friend IKE who will help make your Columbus experience more meaningful.

The first touch screen kiosks made its debut in the Short North today on High St near the corner of W Poplar Ave and are expected to pop up in as many as 35 different places in Downtown, German Village, and University District in 2019.

Residents and visitors will be able to discover events, shops, restaurants, transportation information, and other unique things to do in Columbus by interacting with the IKEs.

Plus, the kiosks will serve as security cameras and free wi-fi hotspots.

The IKEs were developed by Columbus-based Orange Barrel Media with support from Experience Columbus, the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA), Smart Columbus, and the Downtown Special Improvement Districts.

On-screen ad revenue will cover the cost of the new technology.
