Disgraced OSU sexual assault center failed to report 57 potential felonies

In June 2018, Ohio State University dissolved the campus Sexual Civility Empowerment (SCE) center and fired four staffers after failing to document and report at least 20 sexual assault complaints made by students.

Now, the University has announced that the defunct center allegedly failed to report 57 potentially felonious cases.

The 57 cases in question were uncovered after a comprehensive review from an outside auditing firm hired by OSU. Since SCE’s role on campus revolved around the reporting of sex crimes, it is likely that most of the unreported incidents involved sexual assaults. All 57 cases have since been reported to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Since Ohio State President Michael Drake announced the end of SCE over a year ago, the university has tapped Philadelphia law firm Cozen O’Conner, as well as other outside council, to help rebuild the school’s Title IX program and review the SCE cases.
