Paging Dr. Craft! Former OSU basketball player returning to classroom
A former Ohio State men’s basketball standout is swapping his jersey for a white coat. Aaron Craft has announced his retirement from basketball and subsequent return to his alma mater for medical school.
Craft continued his basketball career after college with NBA’s G League (then known as the D-League) and several different clubs in the EuroLeague all while maintaining his goal of one day becoming a doctor.

“The passion for medicine is something I have cultivated since I was a child,” Craft told Italian magazine Corriere della Sera per Eleven Warriors. “At the end of my life I want to be more than a player who has chased a ball. My goal is to help others and serve the society in which I live.”
Though his basketball days may be behind him, Craft can be proud of his many athletic accolades including
- Two-time NBA D-League All-Defensive First Team
- NBA D-League Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 while leading his team to the league’s title
- EuroLeague Pro A Best Defender honors
- NABC Defensive Player of the Year (2014)
- Second-team All-Big Ten (2013)
- Third-team All-Big Ten (2014)
