Franklin County residents are now able to text their emergencies to 911.
This service will benefit those who are hearing impaired, in a place with poor cell service, and/or in a situation where making a call would be dangerous.

To text to 911, simply enter the numbers “911” in the “To” or “Recipient” field of your text without punctuation.
Type a brief but detailed message with your location and a description of your emergency, and press “Send.”
Public safety officials encourage people to use the new texting capability as a last resort. Calls are still preferred because they are more efficient.
